Taking a Look at Kristian Blummenfelt’s 2025 Bike Setup
One of the most visually intriguing bikes to come from Giant/Cadex in the past decade was the Cadex Tri in 2022. This weapon of a bike needs equally fast riders to suit, and who better to race this model than Olympian, Triathlon and Ironman World Champ, and Redbull athlete Kristian Blummenfelt.
Blummenfelt has been doing incredibly this year, going undefeated at Ironman Texas, 70.3 Pays d’Aix, and Ironman Frankfurt (with a blistering 4-hour bike split) as well as a second place at Nice last month.
Let’s do a deep dive into what one of the fastest Ironmen in the world is riding in 2025.
As previously mentioned, Blummenfelt’s bike is based on the Cadex Tri Frameset (size M) with some very fast components to match. In keeping with the frame, he rides a Cadex wheelset with a full disc rear wheel and a quad spoke front, both fitted with Cadex’s Aero tyre offering in 28mm (the maximum clearance for this frame).
For his drivetrain, Blummenfelt is using 12-speed Shimano Dura-Ace DI2, and unlike many of his competitors, he is still using a 2x set up with a monstrous 58/44 chainring combination on the front, along with a Dura-Ace power meter crank (165mm of course), and Dura-Ace pedals.

Now onto the most customised part of a Triathlon setup, the cockpit. Blummenfelt is running the Cadex Aerobar x Sync Ergonomics armrest kit and extension bar. To add to this setup, he often has a Giant water bottle mounted between the bars for extra hydration and some sneaky aero gains.
Keeping him planted on the bike is the Wove V8 TT+Tri saddle with another bottle mounted directly behind the saddle rails.
It’s pro setups like this that do more than just ride fast and look cool. Pro riders shape how brands design and market their equipment, and this trickles down to everyday riders. Even the Cadex Tri frameset itself was designed in conjunction with Kristian Blummenfelt as part of the Sub7 Project where he set the record for the first Sub 7-hour Ironman in 2022 in Dresden, Germany.
Pro teams and rider trends have always been linked to the consumer market, and extraordinarily fast riders and bikes are at the forefront of innovation.
