Staff Bike Check: Luke’s Giant Propel Advanced Pro 0

We love a nice staff build, and here’s one we recently posted to our social media that gained a bit of attention.

This 2024 model has been thoughtfully upgraded with a focus on improved fit, aerodynamics, and overall comfort; however, a lot of this build still sits in its stock form, a testament to the quality and choices of the Giant and Shimano parts straight from the factory.

Continue reading for a full parts breakdown and a few things Luke had to say about the build now that he’s been riding it for a year and a half.

We asked Luke a few questions about the build. Here’s what he had to say:

1. What upgrades have you made from the stock bike?

I went for 38cm bars because if you're gonna have an aero bike, you need a front end to match. I also changed the saddle to the Fizik Vento Argo R3, because I like the shape and the 3d printed material really locks in your position on the bike.

2. What did you upgrade from and how does the bike ride?

I upgraded from TCR Advanced Pro 1 (rim brake). The Propel is by far my favourite bike. It's fast, comfortable, handles well, and is visually stunning.

3. Where’s you favourite place to ride the Propel?

Can’t beat Beach Road for a fast ride and pony loop for some short, punchy climb.
