Keeping Your Bike Secure With Knog Scout
In our bike store, we’ve heard far too many stories of bikes being stolen from apartment lock-ups, street corners, and uni campuses. To try and prevent this, we sell a range of locks and security skewers, and are always happy to show customers good bike-locking practices. However, what happens when you’re out for a group ride and don’t want to bring a heavy lock for a quick coffee stop? Or if you have used a lock, but a thief has cut it and taken your bike?
Melbourne brand Knog has an answer for this, the Knog Scout Bike Alarm, which is now available in store.

This discrete device is designed to attach to any standard mounting screws on your frame or fork. The slim profile allows it to be mounted underneath a bottle cage for a discrete and sleek look. The device also has tamper proof screws so it is not easily removable without the provided tool. This little product has a few main features. Firstly, it acts as an 85 decibel bike alarm. If you’re leaning your bike up outside a cafe while you head in for a coffee, you simply arm the device with a button press or with the companion app. Then, if your bike is moved, the alarm will sound on both the device and your phone.
If you bike is stolen, the Knog Scout can use the Apple or Google Maps’ Find My Device networks to track your bike’s real time location (phone type dependent)*. This way you can track your stolen bike and take action accordingly.
The Scout has an IP66 water resistance rating, is recharged via USB C with a battery lasting up to 6 months, and weighs in at a surprisingly light 25g.

We’re really excited to get this product in store, and hope it will help deter and prevent bicycle thefts around Melbourne.
